What to Expect
Here's a simple step-by-step overview of what happens on the day.
Registration & Check-In
Our receptionist will check you in and collect your documents. Please allow extra time for paperwork.
Changing & Preparation
You'll be taken to a private changing area to prepare for the scan. Our staff are here to answer any questions.
The Mammography Scan
Your breast will be gently compressed for a few seconds to obtain clear, diagnostic images. This may feel uncomfortable but is very brief. The process typically takes 10–20 minutes total.
Results & Next Steps
Images are reviewed by our radiologist and a detailed report is sent to your referring doctor. You can discuss results at your follow-up appointment.
Important Information
Key details to be aware of before your mammography appointment.
What is Mammography?
Mammography is a specialised low-dose X-ray used to examine breast tissue and detect abnormalities at an early stage, before symptoms may be noticeable.
Best Time to Book
If possible, schedule your appointment one week after your menstrual cycle, when breast tissue may be less tender and the scan is more comfortable.

Please inform our team if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding before the examination begins.
